December 15, the United States Senate voted 81-19 in favor of the agreed upon compromise tax legislation. The legislation now moves to the House of Representatives where it will be taken up under an uncertain timeframe, but a vote could come as soon as Thursday of this week. Read more

Debate Continues on Tax Cut Compromise
Congress continues its debate on the extension of Bush-era tax cuts. President Obama and Republican Congressional leaders have reached a preliminary deal on a bill that proposes a $5 million estate tax exemption and 35% top tax rate. Given opposition from many Democrats, it is unclear whether the bill will be signed into law as is, if at all. Stay tuned for further updates.
